Training Resource Center

The Coalition for the Homeless established this training center to help provide training solutions and materials, either live or self-paced, to partners of The Way Home. We hope to help develop and support team members throughout the CoC and provide national best practices to provide high-quality and equitable services throughout our community. This training is only intended for staff of the CoC, it is not intended for members of the general public. If you have questions regarding TWH training, materials offered, or recommendations. Please contact twhtraining@homelesshouston.org.

Training Course Library

About the Training Course Library

This self-paced section allows you to review training materials at your own pace and at your chosen time. Many materials used for self-paced training (e.g., training videos and material packets) are the same as those used in live, interactive group training; however, in self-paced training, you review these materials at your own speed.

  • HMIS

The Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is a computerized data collection tool specifically designed to capture client-level, system-wide information over time on the characteristics and services needs of men, women, and children experiencing homelessness.

HMIS allows the aggregation of client-level data across homeless service agencies to generate unduplicated counts and service patterns of clients accessing services.

  • The Way Home Onboarding

The Coalition is excited to announce and provide a new training opportunity for all staff of the CoC; The Way Home Onboarding!

This onboarding is designed to help staff of The Way Home partner agencies (new and experienced) develop an understanding of our homeless response system on a macro level. This includes but is not limited to the CoC program, HUD program guidelines and requirements, and learn about our CoC's current initiatives to end and prevent homelessness throughout our region.

Training Pathways

About Training Pathways

The Coalition has created these pathways to effectively support you and your development by providing access to training and recommended pathways for your role at your agency. Each function listed below has an assigned training pathway with identified training for you to view. Training will either be overviews of programs or set training. The Coalition facilitates or links to those we recommend to view hosted by external facilitators such as HUD or other nationally recognized partners.
